I wrote my first article here at Columbia for the Bronx Ink, which is one of the news portal that’s run by reporting students at the university.
The article is a follow up on the recent murders of two livery cab drivers in the Bronx. The opportunity came about when one of my classmates told me of a press conference that was happening near my neighborhood to address the deaths of these drivers. Her informant told her the borough president, Ruben Díaz Jr., was going to attend and address the community.
We made an impromptu decision to go down to the press conference and spoke with many cab drivers and other city representatives present there and found a story we wanted to write.
It was a really interesting experience and the feeling is fantastic!
